It’s That Time of Year Again . . .

Greetings, all!

The Yule season is upon us. It is both a happy and stressful time of year, especially when it comes to gifts.

In addition to the “Shop Pagan!” page I added to my blog, a good friend of mine who runs the blog Solar Sublimity has created a list of small businesses and artists whose work is oriented toward Norse and Hellenic tastes and sensibilities.

This season, and every season, we encourage you to shop small and to shop Pagan/Polytheist. Rather than supporting already outrageously rich CEOs of corporations who often don’t treat their employees well, by shopping small and local, you are supporting everyday artists, business owners, and their families and employees directly. Your dollar strengthens the community measurably, directly and immediately thereby, rather than continuing to fund the outsourcing of jobs overseas for cheap (unethical) labor, and poor-quality foreign imports.

We also encourage you to look into your own communities, and find local artisans, crafters, and other small business owners, Pagan/Polytheist or no, and purchase from them as well this holiday season. Not only will you be giving a thoughtful gift, but you will also be bringing wealth, success, and happiness into the homes of the people who made those products, whose lives depend upon those businesses.

I don’t think the corporate CEOs will starve if you don’t buy cheap China-made products from their stores.

God Jul til alle! A thousand blessings to you all this season. May your tables be laden with good food, may your hearts filled with warmth, and may you be surrounded by those you love.
